Tari Topeng Cirebon

Tari topeng cirebon adalah salah satu tarian di parahyangan. Tari topeng cirebon, kesenian ini merupakan kesenian asli dari daerah cirebon. Termasuk Indramayu, Jatibarang, Losari, dan Brebes. Disebut tari topeng, karena penyajiannya menggunakan topeng disaat menari
Salah satu jenis lainnya dari tari topeng ini adalah tari topeng kelana kencana wungu merupakan rangkain tari topeng gaya payahrangan yang menceritakan ratu Kencana WUngu yang dikejar-kejar oleh Prabu Minakjinja yang tergila-gila padanya. Pada dasarnya masing-masing karakter menggambarkan watak manusia kencana wungu dengan topeng warna biru, mewakili karakter yang lincah namun anggun Minakjingga (disebut juga kelana), dengan topeng warna merah mewakili karakter yang berangsaan, tempramental dan tidak sabaran.
Gerakan tangan dan tubuh yang gemulai serta iringan musik yang didominasikan oleh kendang dan rebab, merupakan ciri khas lain dari tari topeng. Kesenian tari topeng ini masih eksis di snggar-sanggar tari yang ada dan masih sering di pentaskan dalam acara-acara resmi daerah ataupun pada momen-momen tradisional daerah lainnya.

Timun Emas (Storry Telling English)

Long time ago in the island of Java, Indonesia, lived a couple of farmer.  They had married for some years but they had no children.  So they prayed to a monster called Buta Ijo to give them children.  Buta Ijo was a ferocious and powerful monster.  He granted their wish on one condition.  When their children had grown up, they had to sacrifice them to Buta Ijo.  He liked eating fresh meat of human being.  The farmers agreed to his condition.  Several months later the wife was pregnant.

She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  They named her Timun Emas.  The farmers were happy. 
Timun Emas was very healthy and a very smart girl.  She was also very diligent. When she was a teenager Buta Ijo came to their house.  Timun Emas was frightened so she ran away to hide.  The farmers then told Buta Ijo that Timun Emas was still a child.  They asked him to postpone.  Buta Ijo agreed.  He promised to come again.  The following year Buta Ijo came again.  But again and again their parents said that Timun Emas was still a child. 

When the third time Buta Ijo came their parents had prepared something for him.  They gave Timun Emas several bamboo needles, seeds of cucumber, dressing and salt. 

‘Timun, take these things’

‘What are these things?’

‘These are your weapons.  Buta Ijo will chase you.  He will eat you alive.  So run as fast as you can.  And if he will catch you spread this to the ground.  Now go!’

Timun Emas was scared so she ran as quickly as she could.  When Buta Ijo arrived she was far from home.  He was very angry when he realized that his prey had left.  So he ran to chase her.  He had a sharp nose so he knew what direction his prey ran. 

Timun Emas was just a girl while Buta Ijo was a monster so he could easily catch her up.  When he was just several steps behind Timun Emas quickly spread the seeds of cucumber.  In seconds they turned into many vines of cucumber.  The exhausted Buta Ijo was very thirsty so he grabbed and ate them.  When Buta Ijo was busy eating cucumber Timun Emas could run away.

But soon Buta Ijo realized and started running again.  When he was just several steps behind Timun Emas threw her bamboo needles.   Soon they turned into dense bamboo trees. Buta Ijo found it hard to pass.  It took him some time to break the dense bamboo forest.  Meanwhile Timun Emas could run farther.

Buta Ijo chased her again.  When he almost catch her again and again Timun Emas threw her dressing.  This time it turned into a lake.  Buta Ijo was busy to save himself so Timun Emas ran way.  But Buta Ijo could overcome it and continued chasing her.

Finally when Timun Emas was almost caught she threw her salt.  Soon the land where Buta Ijo stood turned into ocean.  Buta Ijo was drowned and died instantly. 

Timun Emas was thankful to god and came back to her home.

Peri Pembuat Sepatu

Pada zaman dahulu kala, hiduplah seorang pembuat sepatu. Dia adalah orang yang sangat jujur dan pekerja keras. Namun, hasil yang didapatkannya dari membuat sepatu tidaklah seberapa untuk dapat menghidupinya. Akhirnya, semua harta bendanya habis dan yang tersisa hanyalah selembar kulit yang cukup membuat sepasang sepatu saja. Pembuat sepatu memotong dan menyiapkannya untuk membuat sepatu keesokan harinya. Dia harus bangun pagi-pagi untuk mulai bekerja. Pikirannya yang jernih serta hatinya yang bergembira telah menghilangkan semua persoalannya. Malam itu dia tidur dengan tenang, menyerahkan semua masalahnya dengan tuhan.

            Keesokan paginya setelah berdoa, si pembuat sepatu siap untuk bekerja. Namun dia tertegun. Di hadapannya tergeletak di atas meja adalah sepasang sepatu yang sudah jadi. Pembuat sepatu yang baik hati itu tidak tahu dan tidak punya dugaan bagaimana peristiwa aneh itu bisa terjadi. Dia mengamati sepatu itu dan ternyata tak ada benang yang keliru dalam keseluruhan pengerjaannya. Semuanya begitu rapi dan teliti. Sepatu itu merupakan mahakarya yang menakjubkan.

            Hari itu seorang pelanggan datang. Dia sangat tertarik ketika melihat sepatu itu dan bersedia membelinya dengan harga yang lebih tinggi dari biasanya. Pembuat sepatu menggunakan uang itu untuk membeli kulit yang cukup untuk membuat dua pasang sepatu lagi. Malam harinya, dia berhenti bekerja dan tidur lebih awal agar esok harinya dapat bangun pagi dan memulai pekerjaannya tepat waktu. Namun, ternyata si pembuat sepatu tidak perlu repot-repot. Ketika bangun keesokan harinya, pekerjaannya telah usai dan sepatunya sudah jadi. Tak lama kemudian, datang seorang pembeli yang membeli sepatunya dengan harga yang tinggi. Pembuat sepatu mendapatkan uang cukup untuk membeli kulit uuntuk membuat empat pasang sepatu lagi.  Maka dia berhenti bekerja dimalam harinya, dan lagi-lagi keesokan harinya pekerjaanya telah selesai seperti hari sebelumnya. Kejadian seperti itu terus berulang. Apa yang disiapkannya di malam hari, selalu selesai keesokan paginya. Lama kelamaan, usaha pembuat sepatu dan istrinya bercakap-cakap di dekat perapian.

            Pada suatu malam, pembuat sepatu dan istrinya bercakap-cakap didekat perapian. “Aku akan bekerja sepanjang malam. Aku ingin melihat siapa yang datang dan menyelesaikan pekerjaanku”. Istri pembuat sepatu menyetujui ide suaminya. Mereka membiarkan lampu tetap menyala malam itu, bersembunyi di sudut ruangan dibalik tirai, kemudian mengawasi apa yang terjadi.

            Menjelang tengah malam datanglah peri-peri. Mereka duduk di bangku pembuat sepatu, mengambil alih pekerjaan yang ditinggalkannya. Tangan mungil mereka mulai bekerja; Menjahit, mengetuk, dan memukul dengan palu dengan irama teratur. Pembuat sepatu takjub melihatnya. Dia tidak melepaskan pandangannya dari para peri yang tengah bekerja itu. Mereka terus bekerja sampai selesai, hingga sepatu-sepatu yang siap pakai itu diletakkan di atas meja. Sebelum fajar menyingsing pekerjaan itu selesai lalu secepat kilat mereka pergi meninggalkan rumah pembuat sepatu.

            Keesokan harinya, istri pembuat sepatu berkata, “Peri-peri kecil itu telah membuat kita kaya. Kita harus berterima kasih pada mereka. Aku penasaran melihat mereka saat bekerja. Mereka tidak mengenakan pakaian yang melindungi mereka dari hawa yang dingin. Begini  saja, aku akan membuatkan baju, mantel dan rompi, juga celana panjang untuk mereka. Dan kau akan membuatkan sepatu untuk makhluk-makhluk mungil itu”. Pembuat sepatu sangat senang mendengar usul istrinya. Maka, pada suatu malam ketika semuanya sudah siap, mereka meletakkan benda-benda itu di atas meja kerja si pembuat sepatu. Mereka bersembunyi untuk mengamati apa yang akan dilakukan oleh peri-peri kecil itu. Tengah malam, peri-peri itu masuk dan duduk untuk bekerja untuk bekerja sperti biasanya. Ketika melihat pakaian untuk mereka di atas meja, mereka merasa gembira. Peri-peri itu mengenakan baju dan perlengkapannya dengan mata berbinar-binar. Mereka menari, melompat-lompat, dan berjingkrak-jingkrak di dalam rumah. Sambil menari-nari, mereka keluar dari pintu menuju halaman rumput yang hijau.
